The Ninth Ordinary Session of the Board of Directors of the National Civil Status registration Office (BUNEC) was held on Thursday 23rd July 2020, from 10.00 a.m., in the conference hall of the Yaounde City Council, under the effective chairmanship of FAI YENGO Francis, Chairman of the said Board.
The Director General, Mr YOMO Alexandre Marie, assisted by Mr ABDOULAYE ADJIALI BOUKAR, Deputy Director General, presented on the items on the agenda, which mainly concerned the examination and adoption of the accounts for the financial year 2019.
After having followed the Director General, the Accounting Officer and the Financial Controller in their respective reports. The Board satisfied with the major actions implemented by BUNEC in 2019 and the first semester half of the year 2020, notably:
- the finalization of the architectural and technical studies for the construction project of BUNEC’s head office building and its Central Regional Agency ;
- the development of a training strategy for the civil registrars and the launching of training activities in the field ;
- the development of a civil registration data collection strategy and the launching of the pilot data collection phase for the 2018 fiscal year;
- the preparation of an inventory of the main civil status registries in view of the computerization of Cameroon’s civil status system.
At the end of the discussions, the Board approved and adopted the BUNEC’s accounts, with respect of concordance of the accounts, signed by BUNEC’s General Manager and the Accountant.
In addition, the Board of Directors pleaded for a substantial increase in the financial resources allocated to BUNEC, in accordance with the strategic nature of the missions of this institution, which participates in the fight against insecurity and illegal immigration.
Finally, the Council expressed its satisfaction with the clarity and quality of the documents submitted.
